Pittsburgh Convention Center

Many of our guests at Morning Glory Inn stay with us for business and to attend events at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.

At just over ten years old, the convention center encompasses 1.5 million square feet and from its opening until the year 2014, it welcomed 5.1 million visitors to over 2,000 events. The center is named in honor of David Leo Lawrence, former Governor of Pennsylvania and Mayor of Pittsburgh.

If your lunch is not included in your conference or event schedule, there are more than 90 restaurants within a 15-minute walk of the Pittsburgh Convention Center. From bar fare to sushi, the only problem with the food will be choosing which place to dine at during your time at the convention center!

The Pittsburgh Convention Center is surrounded by entertainment, shopping, and other venues to relax at after a full day at a conference or special event.

Parking

There is an on-site parking garage with 700 spaces and many public lots within a 15-minute walk of the convention center. To access the on-site garage, there are entrances on 10th and 11th Streets, which are on the east side of the center.

Taxis

If you do not wish to take your vehicle or rental car, Yellow Cab does operate in Pittsburgh and can be a low cost option, as the convention center is about a 15-minute drive from our bed and breakfast. Yellow Cab operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To contact Yellow Cab, call 412-321-8100.

Public Transportation

If you prefer to use public transportation to get to the convention center, there is a bus stop at the corner of Sarah Street and S. 18th Street, about a 5 minute walk from the Morning Glory Inn. You may either take the 51 or the 48 bus. The bus will drop you off at Sixth Ave at Smithfield Street, and then it’s less than a 10 minute walk to the center.
